Top 6 Brassy Hair Home Remedies (Best Tips Prevent Brassy Hair)

It can be boring to look at the same hair color in the mirror every day.

Coloring it adds a little spice to your look though it has its downsides. Instead of a soft ash grey, you end up with orange hair.

This can be disappointing if you don’t love the tangy shade.

The next question that pops up in your mind is How do you get rid of the brassy hair?

Store-bought toners can treat the brassiness, but this option can be a bit expensive and have chemicals that can completely damage your hair.

Also, finding the right toner for your hair type can be challenging.

The good news is that you can get salon level treatment by using Brassy hair home remedies with toners.

They are herbal, soft, and friendly to your hair strands and scalp.

What is brassiness?

Brassiness is when unexpected shades of red, orange, or yellow start appearing in your hair.

When you frequently color your hair at home or in a salon you may find that unwanted warm tones of different shades of red, orange, or brass start developing and spread unevenly throughout the hair.

Why is your hair turning brassy?

When you bleach your dark-colored hair, the products you use do not entirely remove the pigment from your hair.

A single bleach session often leaves the existing pigment behind, resulting in an orange or red undertone that shows up as brassy.

Excessive dying of your hair will damage and discolor your hair leaving you with bright yellow coloring.

The buildup of minerals will make your blonde hair brassy. Using hair products containing sulfates or hard water from your shower exposes your hair to brassiness because of the high mineral content.

Sunlight and chlorine also damage your hair by weakening the strands, no matter what shade your hair is. Your hair shaft weakens because of this exposure leaving it vulnerable to breakage and eventually leading to brassiness.

Note:

  • Most people with blonde hair experience brassiness because the hair is porous, which means it can soak up everything, including unwanted minerals.
  • Another reason why your blonde hair turns brassy is that your toner wears off.
