Can’t believe I haven’t posted in 3 months?! I lost a track of time! There are so many things happening right now, I guess. Well, probably a month ago I asked you guys on my FB, what would you prefer to read about first – disappointing products or current favorites, and you all voted for the first one, so my come back post will be quite negative, haha!
Sit back and relax while I tell you why these products didn’t work for me.
First product on the list (with no special order) is Orofluido Beauty Elixir which is pretty much argan and some other oils mixed with silicones. The formula I’d usually love, but this just doesn’t do anything – doesn’t nourish my hair, doesn’t work as styling product, doesn’t give them shine and softness… Nothing. And I got the biggest version because the reviews were so great, and I thought it’s gonna work well on me because my hair is not high maintenace. I guess not. What to do with the rest of the product…
Gillette Satin Care Shave Gel for dry skin… Ugh, this one is so bad I don’t even want to talk about it, but I kinda have to…:) Went to a drugstore in NYC to get a shaving thing because I forgot my beloved Balea shaving oil at home. I had bad experience with their shaving gels before, but I was thinking that dry skin version must be better than that green one (I think it’s for sensitive skin). It’s probably worse. My skin was so red and itchy, and I again had those bumps that start to bleed when you shave, and it never happens with Balea oil. Ugh..NO.
Skin care – the fun part! :) Starting from the top left, Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I really didn’t like this micellar water because it foams too much for my taste and it doesn’t remove mascara that well. Ironically, that is one of the products I’m using right now, because I got eyelash extensions and can’t use oil-based makeup removers. I guess it’s not that bad, if you remove your make up with a cleansing gel first and then use this to remove remains. You just need to have eyelash extensions to make this product good enough!! :D I’m so funny…
Melvita Nectar De Rose Infusion Hydrating Day Cream*. I had high hopes for this one because I LOOVED Pulpe De Rose Plumping Radiance Cream, but this one caused me breakouts. I gave it quite a few tries, hoping something else is causing me those, but no… It might work for mature skin tho, because it is quite nourishing.
Clarisonic Refreshing Gel Cleanser is just really drying + if you use it with Clarisonic in the beginning (I got it together with the purchase), I think it’s even worse. Very drying and has a weird taste – somehow it always gets into my mouth and nose?! Your fav gel cleanser is going to work just fine with Clarisonic, no need to buy this. ;)
Skin Doctor Zit Zapper was a failed attempt to find a dupe for Origins Super Spot Remover. Not working on my blemishes + the packaging was leaking and the applicator was weird. I barely got any product in the beginning, until I figured out I had to squeeze it really bad. No, thanks. There are better products out there. Like Origins Super Spot Remover. ;)
Cheek fun! First product I don’t like is H&M Pure Radiance Powder Blusher in the shade Pink Peach. The product is poorly pigmented, and when you get it on your cheeks it doesn’t last for long. Quite a disappointment because I was really excited when I got it – it was my first purchase of H&M make up line. I like the packaging, but I’m missing the mirror.
I’m gonna make a little twist now, and talk about NARS Albatross highlighter. I was looking for a certain way how I’d like my ultimate highlighter to look like, and in a lot of the looks I liked girls were wearing this highlighter, so I decided – 30 eur is worth it. I mean, it’s not like I’m known for using cheap blushes, but still… :D WHY IS THIS THING NOT SHOWING ON ME?! :D It look so much more visible on other people… But not on me. So, yeah, I don’t really love it as I should.
After spending so much money on that highlighter and not being satisfied with it, I noticed that glow on Katja’s cheeks. I grabbed Bell Hypoallergenic Face&Body Illuminating Powder first time I had a chance (they don’t sell the brand in the drugstores I usually go to). While it looks nice when swatched, it is too white on my cheeks and there are some glitter chunks in it here and there. It’s not expensive, so I don’t really care that I got it, but I was a little bit sad that it’s still not what I’m looking for and I have to keep looking for “the one”.
Next product I was disappointed about is Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara*. I didn’t have high hopes for it, because plastic wands don’t work for my lashes, but still… It stayed wet so it clumped my lashes together, and there were some “mascara balls” in it – those chunks that will fall on your cheeks when your make up is perfect.
Let’s continue with Maybelline – Color Whisper Lipsticks. Those were a big hit 4 years ago when there was hype around pigmented, but balmy, my-lips-but-better lipsticks (remember Revlon Lip Butters and L’Oreal Rouge Caresse? :) Good times..), but I don’t know why were these so hyped. Very balmy for sure, but both shades that I have set into the lip lines (Bare to be Bold – in the photo, and Coral Ambition), and Bare to be Bold is a weird nude that doesn’t fletter me at all. But that was my mistake. :) Setting in the lines is the biggest issue here.
Next product I’ll be complaining about is Essence Little Brow Monsters Eye Brow Pen. What is this applicator? Not really precise to fill my brows, unless it’s supposed to be used only in the middle? I don’t know. Also the product doesn’t come out evenly. The desing seems to be not thought through…
There is also one product from sister brand – Catrice Healthy Look Concealer*. If I’d have to guess, I’d say this is supposed to be dupe for YSL Touche Eclat. It does a good job, if you don’t have dark undereye circles, which I do, and that is why it didn’t work out for me. They are still visible, if I use it alone. I’d have to use a concealer in salmon shade first to neutralize, and than go over with this. But that would look to cakey on me, because I also have some wrinkles and dry skin around my eyes. I think this product is perfect for teenagers, because their skin is still soft and they usually don’t have dark circles as I do.
The last product I’ll be talking about is a tool, H&M Eyelash Curler. It’s a bit too big for my eyes, and it doesn’t do a great job curling the lashes. It might be because of the thick rubber, I don’t know. I prefered MAC eyelash curler, but H&M one is prettier, that’s why I’m not throwing it away yet. It’s a good photo prop :D. Oh, bloggers…
And that is it – all the products I have in my stash and I’m not happy with.
What is your opinion, if you’ve tried any of these products? I’d really like to know, so make sure to leave a comment! And I hope I’ll talk to you soon!
*Products marked with ‘*’ were sent to me as PR samples. However, my opinion stays honest and you can rely on it – that is what this website is all about :).
